A really interesting read from an author with a unique writing style. Often historical fiction is based around kings and queens but Rob is an ordinary chap yet his story is still intriguing. I learnt a lot about local customs of the time and was particularly interesting being based in the area I grew up. Would recommend.

I picked this up because it was a bit different to what I normally read and I am so glad I did. It is a wonderful story! I always find it fascinating to take a look into history from a different perspective and this does just that. Rob is an interesting character who ... I very much recommend this book!!
The book starts in 1750 and it showed how tough things started for Nellie, Historical fiction isn’t something I’ve read a lot of but I found this really interesting both the story and historical facts throughout the book... An enjoyable short read
